Now Hiring: Program Coordinator

Start: March 2019

Hours: 10-15 hours per week.

Compensation: Based on $15/hour

A. Overall Description:

The Friends of Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument seek to hire a new team member capable of organizing events, programs, and coordinating volunteers. The Program Coordinator will work with the Executive Director, Board Members, and organization volunteers on developing the following programs: Hike & Learn programs, Annual BioBlitz, Fundraising Dinner, 2020 Anniversary Events, and any new programs and events.

B. Duties:

  • Primary tasks are to plan and coordinate the program activities of the Friends group.

  • Organize program logistics: contact speakers and set engagement dates.

  • Coordinate publicity: help write press releases, create/distribute posters, and write information for Friends website, social media, and newsletters.

  • Operate as program facilitator for programs: coordinate volunteer help as needed, manage program evaluations, and record program statistics.

  • Manage event registration (typically through and communicate with registered participants.

  • Maintain organized records and schedules.

  • Attend monthly Board meetings and present status of program activities.

C. Job Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of publicity and program development.

  • Know basics of writing press releases.

  • Ability to use Excel and Google Drive to enter/track participant data and schedules.

  • Must have a car or access to a car for transportation to Monument.

  • Must enjoy meeting and working with field experts, community participants, and journalists.

  • Strong organization and time management skills are needed to sustain and ensure success of programs.

  • A Bachelor's degree and some level of experience necessary.

  • Familiarity with the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument is desirable.
