Meditation & Mindfulness in the Monument

On Saturday May 25th, Stasie Maxwell, will lead both a stationary and moving meditation (Qigong) set in the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument. Stasie is a long-time Qigong practitioner, current Qigong Instructor and is currently co-facilitating a Psychology of Meditation course at SOU with Dr. Paul Condon. The object of this event looks at practicing and cultivating mindfulness in Nature to deepen the relaxation, peace and rejuvenation we already feel simply by being or walking through the woods.

Participants of all ages are welcome. For children, prior meditation experience is encouraged, but not required. If you choose to bring your child, please be prepared to monitor their behavior in relation to the intent of this meditation event. Registration is required to attend.

Directions: We will be meeting at 10:00 am in the Rite Aid parking lot (corner of Ashland Street and Tolman Creek Road). Park at the west end, near the Rodeway Inn. From there we will carpool to the Monument.

What to bring:

  • Water

  • Sack lunch

  • Comfortable clothing

  • Sun hat

  • Sunscreen

  • Blanket or pad for sitting meditation
