Hike leader and archaeologist, Jeff LaLande, will explore the seasonal uses by the different Native groups -- the Shasta and the Takelma -- who once hunted and gathered within what is now the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument.
HIKE: a part of the PCT near Pilot Rock, gazing back in time to consider how Native groups used this area.
Registration is required to attend the talk and the hike.

Hike Length: approx. 3 miles.
Difficulty level: moderate.
On the day of the hike:
- Be sure to bring a sense of adventure.
- Wear comfortable hiking shoes
- Bring lunch, snacks, and enough water for the day
- Additional items: Hat, Sunscreen, Walking Sticks, Binoculars, Hand Lens
- Bring layers

Directions: To carpool, meet at 9:00 am in the Rite Aid parking lot (corner of Ashland Street and Tolman Creek Road). Park at the west end, near the Rodeway Inn.
